Burn Permit -

Permits are issued during business hours only

Open burning in Elk Ridge City is allowed only during the designated burn windows of March 1–30 and October 1–30, weather permitting. Dates are subject to change based on air quality and weather conditions. Burn permits are valid for one day only, and a new permit must be obtained for each day you plan to burn. After receiving your permit from the city, you must call Utah County 801-851-2876 on the day of your burn to ensure conditions are approved. Please follow all safety guidelines to help keep our community safe. 

You must have a valid permit number from the City of Elk Ridge before burning. The permit number will be sent to you by email, and it must be available on site while burning.

Please burn responsibly and remember that there are fines for burning without a permit.

Burn Permit Requirements

Permit holders must call Utah County Dispatch at 801-851-2876 prior to burning to confirm air quality conditions. This permit does not override any burn restrictions issued by Utah County due to poor air quality or extremely dry conditions.


Only natural materials such as brush, wood products, grass, and limbs may be burned. All fires must be completely extinguished before dark. A fire extinguishing device (such as a hose or fire extinguisher) must be on site at all times to prevent the fire from spreading.


An adult must be present and maintain constant supervision of the fire. Burning is not permitted without first obtaining a valid permit number from Elk Ridge City.


Permit valid only for the date and time listed.If you wish to burn on multiple days, you must obtain a separate permit for each day.
